Two adults leading a school group of 8 students fell approximately 3m down a small blind pitch whilst traversing around the edge. The second caver slipped and knocked the first caver down the pitch, landing on top of him, who suffered serious fractured leg injuries. The second caver was unhurt and made his way out of the cave with his group assisted by instructors from another outdoor pursuit organisation.

Call out from Devon & Cornwall Police did not follow normal accepted procedures. Call was initially passed to Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue. Fire and Rescue entered cave with paramedic led to incident site by local (non rescue team) caver. The 999 informant confirms he spoke with the Police and requested Cave Rescue. Fire & Rescue advised Cave Rescue of incident.

19 team members attended for 5 hours and 30 minutes.
