Joint Training Exercise DCRO & DRG Ashburton 18th Oct 2006

DCRO carried out a joint training exercise with DRG Ashburton. The exercise was well attended with over 25 rescuers involved in practicing an array of skills including:

  • Communications
  • Strategic planning and deployment
  • Searching, micro navigation and Moor-land haulage
  • Underground rescue
  • Causality care
  • The highly trained team used their impressive collection of local knowledge, experience and technical ability to effectively promote the recovery, of the ´MOCK´ casualties. The victims were trapped in the large underground mine adits of West Vitifer and Bushdown chest deep in water with varying injuries.

The rescue teams used a selection of technical supplies to advance the recuperation of the victims:

  • REACT stretcher
  • ´LITTLE DRAGON´ breathing apparatus
  • KISSU group shelter
  • Casualty Bag
  • The training exercise demonstrated that DRCO team has the qualities to smoothly and coherently deal with any emergency situation they may face. An informal debrief and well deserved drink was enjoyed after the exercise at the East Dart pub in Postbridge!
