Devon Cave Rescue Organisation undergo regular rescue practices in caves and
underground locations throughout Devon, and have joint practices with other teams.
An example of this was with Dartmoor Rescue Group (Ashburton Section), the venue was
kept "top secret " until the day when those team members who had
indicated their availability received a telephone call detailing the
location, nature of incident, number of person reported missing etc.
This tested the teams ability to respond quickly to an incident. The
evening went well and a number of key lessons were learnt and in general
the rescue practice was deemed very successful. Using the react
stretcher on loan from West Breacon Cave rescue Team proved successful,
especially the lifeline and haul shuffle method of lifting a stretcher
from a vertical haul to horizontal with a limited height pitch head.
